To create an old and reclaimed look the flooring is treated in a special mechanical process that creates a multitude of marks, dents and scratches at random across the surface and the edges of the boards or blocks. We usually start from a sanded, square edged board which then shows off all the little nicks and dings after the distressing process.

Because of all the uneven surface markings the finishes will settle into those differently than in a sanded board, adding to the old and reclaimed effect.
